The fabric upholstered surrounds make these booths a flexible space for dining or impromptu meetings. The use of blonde timber carries through the Scandinavian aesthetic.

[message] => Hannover Re’s staff canteen boasts a fully equipped industrial kitchen with a focus on high quality coffee machines for the best cup of coffee for the insurer’s staff. Structural plants feature in this space where the 166 employees receive a full meal each day. Mixed seating arrangements include booths and bench seating, lending themselves to communal dining.

Exposed columns and a diamond ground concrete floor are in keeping with the industrial feel. This is married with the use of natural timber in the slatted ceiling and furniture, lending a restaurant type atmosphere. The routed geometric detail in the timber side panels of the bench seating, along with blue fabric tie in with the rest of the office space.

[message] => A plywood box with booth seating creates a contained informal meeting space for collaboration at Hannover Re’s new Rosebank Towers offices. Plants feature throughout the space, with dedicated spaces to house the greenery. The use of structured plant types ties in with the strong geometric elements in the design.

Meeting a request from staff, the plants bring the outdoors in and improve air quality and wellbeing.

[message] => With a move from cellular to open plan offices, the workstation design at Hannover Re’s new offices took this transition into account. The Tétris team designed high-end semi-private and staggered workstations.

Acoustic breakaway spaces were placed along the perimeter, with the workstations set away from the floor to ceiling glazing due to the solar element, ensuring staff are comfortable. The columns are clad in white back-painted glass to be used as whiteboards for impromptu meetings. The blue carpet finish that appears throughout the open plan area meets grey tone carpeting in a deconstructed pattern to demarcate the change to the collaboration spaces.

Partially exposed services are interspersed with dropped bulkheads over the work area to address the acoustic and lighting requirements.

[message] => Meeting the client’s brief to achieve a high level of sound proofing in the meeting rooms at Hannover Re’s new Johannesburg offices, the rooms were given an acoustic treatment in consultation with an acoustic specialist.

The door, glazing and ceiling were treated and acoustic panels were introduced on the walls. The wing shaped acoustic panels double up as art, with different combinations of colours and patterns in different rooms, carrying the geometric element throughout the space. Wall-to-wall exterior glazing maximises the third floor views.
